Shuri, ADOPTED updated 1/26/2020

Sassy Sister

Shuri is the smallest of the Wakanda kittens, and the sweetest. She makes THE cutest chirping noises, which I cannot ever capture on video. Shuri's favorite place is to lay on our shoulder.

Shuri caused all her siblings to be weaned because she didn't know how to bottle. They came to me with this chewed up nipple, but they suckled on it just fine so I didn't think much of it. During her third bottle here, she chewed the nipple out of the bottle and sent me into pure panic as I tried to wrestle it out of her mouth. In the video below, the first half is her brother T'Challa- but you'll see Shuri steal the bottle from him around the 30s mark.

I replaced the nipple and tried again, but she chewed the tip right off- which is how I figured out what happened to the first nipple. Have you ever sifted through kitten poop looking for a nipple? I have... I didn't find it, but she never seemed to suffer.

Some of these might be be T'Challa- it's really hard to tell them apart when they're not side by side. They're wonderful kittens, but hard to photograph. Most of the time the pictures just look like black blobs.

Shuri is particularly social and is rarely alone. She will curl up with her siblings or the other house cats quite happily.

While celebrating on New Year's Eve the foster mom way- chilling in bed with kittens, I discovered a small scab on sister Okoye's head. When we were able to take her into the vet, we found that she had ringworm and needed to be separated. For two weeks, Okoye was on her own. Chubby T'Challa (now Henry) was fixed and adopted and M'Baku and Shuri kept each other company.

M'Baku and Shuri loved when I could spend time with them

But 2 weeks after Okoye showed signs, M'Baku had a spot. For her own good, we had to isolate Shuri away from her sick siblings. To protect our house cats, we chose to also keep her separated from our own crew.

Shuri has been miserable on her own, and it's so hard to watch. I try to divide my mine between her, her siblings, and the rest of my pets, but I spend more time with Shuri. Whenever we'd enter, she'd chirp, mewl, and purr at us, sprinting and pouncing around the room with joy. When she wore herself out, she'd curl up with us, making air biscuits or gently tapping our faces with her paws.

Shuri's noises make me smile, every single time. I love her little chirps.

She loves food and attention. Shuri is one of THE most social kittens I have ever met. She just wants to interact.

I'm more excited for her to get fixed and adopted this weekend than any other kitten. Even though it will break my heart, she deserves to be in a family that can give her the attention and love she desires, EVERY DAY. I've been cycling between 3 rooms, only sleeping with her every 3 nights. She purrs the entire night, curled next to my cheek. She is purring and making air biscuits at this very moment, in my lap, asking me to help her find her forever home. I'll do my best Shuri!
