Saffron, ADOPTED, updated 7/12/2020

Writer's picture: Melanie JohnsonMelanie Johnson

Please see the Spices group post for a lot more Saffron content... the 3 orange babies are so hard to tell apart in pictures!! I've done my best to find Saffron pictures... but it is very possible his siblings snuck in, especially the belly up pictures.... all 3 enjoy being held on their backs and softly pet until they pass out!

Saffron's favorite spot!

Saffron loves his fuzzy kitten bed. If he can't get to that, he'll take a fuzzy blanket or a fuzzy slipper or a fuzzy plushie. Most of the time you can only see the top of his head as he nuzzles and nurses on his fuzzy.

When Saffron is in his cuddle mode he is pretty malleable. Stick his toes up by his ears? Sure! Wiggle his tail over his nose? Absolutely!

But when he's not sleeping, Saffron is always trying to escape his kitten room. He can get up and over the pet gate soooo fast! He always runs straight into the bedroom. I guess he's trying to play with this gorgeous kitten in the mirror.

Update 6/30/2020

Now that Saffron has free run of the house during the day, he no longer needs to expend any energy to escape the kitten room.... so he really doesn't feel the need to expend much energy at all! His favorite past time is finding something very soft and plush to nurse, while staring at you with soulful eyes.

I know I've posted a lot of pictures/videos of this, but I can't stop taking them! I think he's adorable in nursing mode.

Saffron is particularly well matched with brother Tumeric. They take turns nursing on each other.

Saffron is curious, but in a very lazy way. He doesn't explore as much as his siblings, but watches intently when curious things enter his area.

The night before adoption day, I got a shipment and tossed the empty box near the back door before running outside to do my driveway zumba class. After class, we often go inside to eat... and everyone opened the door and cooed over this adorable sight! Saffron, sister Paprika, and brother from another mother Cardamom/Merlin were packed up and ready to go to their forever homes.

I helped set up at the adoption center in the morning and was excited to get to sign up the MANY families interested in adopting kittens. I briefly met his new mommy, who was really looking for an orange girl, but they're pretty rare. Sister Paprika wasn't even at the center yesterday, because her new family couldn't make it until today. But it seems she couldn't resist his gentle soul- I was happy to see that she took him home! I've got all fingers and toes crossed she finds this blog or my contact info on the paperwork I sent home in his treat bag and contacts me for updates. He's such a love bug! I miss him already so much!
