Rosemary isn't sure this is a good idea

Last Sunday after meeting friends for a brunch, I checked for updates in the IBR foster group and saw a plea to pick up Rosemary from Petsmart. Her very goopy eyes meant she needed to return to a foster home until they cleared up and her foster mom was on vacation. Since I was less than a mile away, I stopped by to see if I could help and was rewarded with this sweet girl.

The husband and I joked that Rosemary was vying to take the title of "most boring kitten in the world" that we jokingly gave to our housecat, Musubi. Upon arrival into our home, Musubi curled up on the bed near my belly and did not move for the first 12 hours. We loved the snuggles, but worried about her activity level. But once she settled in, Musubi quickly made herself known as a thunderous parkour cat. We never figured out how such a tiny kitten could make so much noise running around, jumping off walls.

I took Rosemary out of her crate and put her in my lap, where she laid placidly as the other house cats and foster kittens came to say hello. She did stir a bit when the dogs tried to welcome her, but still never moved from her spot. Antibiotics and eye drops were easily administered-she just laid limp in my arms. If I had to move, I'd pick her up and she felt like a warm rag doll.

When it was time to put her in the crate, she curled up in the back and didn't stir when joined by Independence- who used her back as a pillow.

By the time I got home the next day, Rosemary had fully acclimated to her new surroundings. She enjoys chasing her tiny playmates around, but still goes limp when picked up. It makes medicine time so much more difficult, but I'm glad to see her sparkling personality instead of lethargic anxiety. Rosemary LOVES snack time. I'll miss her but really hope she'll be recovered enough to return to the shelter for Clear the Shelters day on 8/17/19.

Update: Rosemary was one of nearly 40 kittens that got adopted during the totally successful Clear the Shelter event. The adoption team said the little girl who chose her cried with happiness. So happy for her!
