Kepler is an optical planet finder, kind of like a mini-Hubble, which was suitable for the runt. But while the Kepler telescope is good at finding planets, Kepler kitten is good at finding food. Kepler loves to find food. Kepler loves to eat food. Kepler loves food! Kepler started off nearly 3 oz behind her siblings. But now, Kepler is only 2 oz behind the biggest (Chandra) and has surpassed Spitzer and Hubble.
Kepler is a good little kitten!! She is good in the litter box and eats really well. She's growing into her big eyes and she is just as sweet as can be. She seems to be particularly drawn to her twin, Hubble.
update 4/9/2020
Kepler and sister Hubble are enthusiastic eaters. Kepler often needs a little help to figure out where the food is... they've been a bit sick and I usually have to place a bite of food in her mouth before she realizes it is food time. But once discovered, she eats heartily!
After dinner, she loves to purr herself to sleep.
Updated 4/19/2020
Kepler started as the runt, 6.5 oz compared to her sister, Chandra at 11.5oz the day I picked them up. Now she's turned into the group giant, 1lb 6.25oz compared to Chandra and Hubble at 1lb 2.5oz. Brother Spitzer is tiny by comparison, 12.9oz.
I've never claimed any of my kittens to be a bonded pair, but I'm watching Kepler and sister Hubble carefully. Undeniably, they seek each other out on a regular basis, for both play and cuddles. However, I haven't noticed any separation anxiety if they are separated. Currently, Hubble is sleeping in my lap, and Kepler is content enough to sleep in the kitten bed on her own. If I put Hubble down, I'm sure she'd find Kepler, but there doesn't seem to be any stress. Then again, I'm confident they both know they're in the same room in the same house.
Kepler is the most playful of the group, probably because she's the biggest and most coordinated. If someone is complaining, it's probably because Kepler is playing with their tail, or toe, or belly, or ear...
Limited play videos, but I have roughly a billion pictures of sleeping kittens. Today Kepler decided to research how many different ways she could sleep in an odd position.
And Kepler and Spitzer hate their nightly butt baths, but love the following cuddling session. (They're still learning proper hygiene and have lingering soft poops)
Update 4/26/20
Kepler's round belly is an amazing thing. Twice as big as her head, but it doesn't slow her down in the slightest. She LOVES to wrestle. I'm not sure if she's really good at it, or really bad at picking partners... most of them are sleeping.
When Kepler sleeps, she sleeps deeply. Probably because she's the only one who gets to sleep without a sibling chewing on her ear.
Update 5/7/20
Kepler is learning to respond t her new name, Roxy. I think she knows it, but it's hard to tell if she's coming to her name or just following me around. I cannot get enough of watching her sleep- she's so peaceful... almost always belly up and so limp.
She's so cuddly- she doesn't normally nurse, but I did capture a cute little video
Crinkle balls seem to be their favorite toy. Roxy stole this from her sister, but Baby Bella did get it back at the end!
Roxy is a climber, which some people discourage by I LOVE shoulder cats. Most of my adult cats jump up onto my shoulder and will hang out while I'm doing chores and it makes me so happy. Roxy and sisters are too small to jump so they still climb up, but they want to be with their humans! Sorry for the horrible video... it's hard to get a video, balance on one leg (to protect my skin from dangling kitten claws), and also finish cooking, which is what I was trying to do at the time!
Roxy seems to be interested in the puppies too!
Update 5/9/2020
In about an hour, I'll be taking Roxy and sister Bella to the adoption center to be adopted into their new home. I walked in after my morning workout to see Roxy surrendering to relaxation in her kitten bed.
Roxy is not worried- she knows she's going home with her favorite sister and will live a good life.
