When I had to take the kittens to the IBR foster founder, she told me that Justice had an eye problem. I had to explain that she really didn't- she just liked to eat with her entire face.

Sorry for the terrible picture, but she's hard to photograph because of her coloring... and she REALLY wanted me to put her back in her food dish. Luckily, she's transitioned to dry kibble. I hope that she'll learn to sit near her dish instead of IN her dish to eat it when she is bigger!!
Her siblings also don't let me take her photo much. She seems to be a favorite cuddle buddy. Right after I took that first picture on the blue blanket, Firecracker joined us and rolled all over her (which did NOT bother her one bit!) until he also passed out. I know these look like pictures of Firecracker, but you can see Justice's ears! A lot of my Justice pictures seem to be similar!
8/15/19 Update
Of the fireworks kittens, Justice is the most consistent POP kitten... Purr On Pickup. It's rare to pick her up without feeling the rumbling in her belly. I love rubbing that belly!
8/25/19 Update
Ok... I have to admit, Justice wasn't my favorite at first. Just a dark blob of a kitten... and I'm not usually a huge fan of the splotchy blob colors like that. I love the bright colors of a calico... and Liberty's super floofy gray and Independence's bright orange were so striking, my eyes were always seeking out the other kittens that I found more visually appealing.
But Justice follows me around, often trying to sit on my feet as I walk. She purrs when I pick her up... EVERY TIME. And she will always settle into my hold... content to be there rather than any where else. I'm learning to do a variety of household tasks one handed.
update 9/9/19
It's official. Justice is my favorite kitten of this batch. Though not very photogenic (she always looks a little ragged), she has an ideal personality. My husband gets home before me and lets the kittens out to rampage. Justice comes to find me within minutes of hearing me walk in the door. I have not been able to catch her NOT purring... if she sees me coming she'll start purring before I even get near her. If I sneak up on her, she starts rumbling as soon as I pick her up. Even if I pick her up mid pounce, she'll curl up in my hands, purring and give me kisses for at least a few moments before going back to play. If she's not in hyper mode, she'll simply curl up and relax into me. This makes it even harder to get a good pic, as I can rarely see her in the camera before I snap the picture, since she often wants to be snuggled right under my chin.
9/17/19 Update
Justice loves to be picked up, held with her bottom supported and snuggled into my arms. We were out of kitten food one night, so we made a run to the petstore to pick some more up and decided to see how she'd handle the car ride. She did so well! She seemed to like looking out of the car windows. She did get a little bit wiggly at the very end of the trip, but she was so adorable in her harness.
9/22/19 UPDATE
I dropped the kittens off early, so got to spend a little extra time saying good bye and good luck as I was transferring them into their kennel. After giving each a hug and putting them in their kennel, I paused to pat each one on the head one last time before closing it up.
Justice reached out and put both paws on my shoulder blade, and leaned her whole body into my face, then lightly jumped up to perch on my shoulder. I pressed my cheek into her warm fur, listening to her rumble. I'm sure I got some of my tears on her before I gently lifted her off and put her back in the kennel with her sisters and fled with my heart bursting. I'm crying right now as I write this!
When her sisters, Liberty and Sparkler, were adopted on Saturday, leaving Justice and Victory at Petsmart overnight, I began thinking about a post I recently saw of a wife and kids that casually adopted a second black cat without telling the dad. According the post, it was 2 weeks in and he had no idea they had two cats!! I wondered how long it would take my husband to notice if I snuck Justice back in the house and hid her among the 3 fosters and 7 house cats.
Luckily for me, since he'd actually notice immediately, the adoption team didn't keep us in suspense. It turns out a young man showed up and fell in love with Justice Saturday night after the adoption team left. They were back Sunday morning to take this sweet kitten home and save me from foster failing her and testing the strength of my marriage!
Dear new dad- if Justice is your new kitten, I'd love updates!! Kitteeohana@gmail.com
