My sarcastic humor led me to name this guy Independence, as he's just NOT. The first time I let him out of his crate in his new foster home, he crawled directly into my lap, up my chest, and began kissing me all over my face. As he's become more comfortable, he has begun to play more with his siblings or toys, but he'll start purring and give kisses every time!! He likes to gently grab my face with his paws (NO CLAWS!) and pull me in if I don't get close enough.
With the exception of my husband, who is known for being one odd duck, he is picked as a favorite by everyone who comes into my home. Granted, most can't choose just one and pick him along with 1-2 others... but he's a crowd pleaser.

Independence is learning to live up to his name, though he is happy to be picked up and cuddled. I'm really proud of his new-found confidence, though I miss his little face velcroed to mine with constant pleas for attention.
This poor baby had a pretty bad cold. He gurgled when he purred and had many sneezing fits. It also affected his nose... a growing black scab formed, getting thicker and darker every day for over a week. It took 3 different antibiotics, nightly steam showers, and some topical cream to get him healthy again. My heart smiles every time I look at his nose!
9/9/19 Update
Independence's nose seems to be completely healed! He continues to be very serious about his kitten kibble- chowing down while covering as much of the bowl with his belly so his siblings have to nudge him aside to get to the food. He does love to come to get wet kitten treats too, but is almost always the first one done with that.
He's taken a very large lead in weight- the only kitten over 3lbs right now. But he's a pretty mellow dude when he's not in full rampage mode. He sat in my hubby's hand like it was his personal throne for several minutes before the hubby got tired of holding him up.
9/15/19 Update

Independence purred as I smothered him with kisses on his last morning with me. I dropped him off with his brother at Petmsart on Saturday- and his brother was the first adoption of the day! I was elated for Firecracker, but wondered if my social kitten was all alone and stressed out. We stopped by Sunday morning to check on him while out running errands and were happy to see that he was sleeping peacefully.
By pure chance, we were invited to a last minute lunch at a Sushi restaurant across the parking lot from Petsmart. We couldn't resist checking on Independence again, while we were RIGHT THERE. My heart soared when I saw that his kennel was empty and his name was on the adoption board.
Dear new lucky parents- I'd LOVE updates of this sweet boy!! Kitteeohana@gmail.com
