Eclipse-IKE, ADOPTED, updated 11/3/19

Writer's picture: Melanie JohnsonMelanie Johnson

Available 10/5/19 How to train your kitten? Eclipse is the boldest of his siblings and seems eager to give up his wild life to live in the lap of luxury. He likes to talk to his humans, requesting food or attention at regular intervals. He will sit in a pet bed in your lap for hours and has discovered his purrbox recently. He also loves to sleep with his face planted into soft beds or blankets. It didn't take long for this formerly wild kitten to melt his foster mom's heart when he showed his trust by offering his tummy for belly rubs. Eclipse gets along with all of the household cats, including the grumpy old man cat. He lets the dogs groom him until his fur is soggy. Eclipse loves all kinds of cat toys. His paws thunder off the tile floors when he plays. He's met lots of teenagers and adults, but no young children. He should be ok with gentle kids that won't startle him. Eclipse has started to curl up on his foster parents for naps. Will you finish training this lovebug?

These kittens were estimated around 7 weeks old when they were rescued. They're pretty timid so I didn't get as much time or as many opportunities to take pictures. Please see their group thread for their back story: https://kitteeohana.wixsite.com/website/post/night-lights-9-19-19

Eclipse abandoned his wild ways and seeks the comforts of a loving home. He calls to us if he's in his kennel and will reach out for us if we approach. He likes to sleep on my legs with his face planted into the blanket, but if I'm petting him, he'll roll over and show you his belly. Unlike the typical cat, he doesn't seem to have a limit to the number of pets you can give him... he'll let me rub his round belly all day.

Although Eclipse was the slowest to develop an appetite (I think he had a cold when he arrived; he probably couldn't smell very well), that appetite has become rather voracious. He eats his kibble but lives for wet treats. He'll climb into my lap during treat time!

Eclipse easily accepted love from all the visitors and was the first to start playing with interactive toys. He particularly loves the feather wand, but beware of this if you have hardwood or tile floors! This is NOT a stealthy kitten. He (and brother Dusk) thunder around our home when they play- it's hard to imagine how such a tiny kitten can be so heavy on his paws!

If you take him home, don't leave me in the dark! I'd love updates: kitteeohana@gmail.com

I happened to be at Petsmart at the end of the adoption event when Eclipse's new family was taking him home. They gave me a hug and let me cover him in kisses before they left. My heart is filled with happiness! They were thinking about calling him Ike.

He was really uncooperative with his last photoshoot... he kept running away or wiggling!

Ike's family reached out to me on Facebook and gave me permission to share some pictures! They love him very much and he's adjusted completely to being part of their family. It's so rewarding to hear this once shy, scared kitten now knows only love and warmth. They said he loves to play with a ball, but I think he loves to snuggle! He's such a lucky boy!
