Yes, I'm covered in food residue... I don't know how to eat!

Chandra is a high energy X-ray telescope. The hubby actually used it in his dissertation research! Chandra is one of our most active kittens. A few hours ago she became the first of the litter to climb up and out of their playpen. If there is a wrestling match happening, she's probably part of it. She is LOUD and demanding. Physically, she's the fastest and most steady on her tiny kitten paws. She was the first one to learn to use the litter box, though she's not using it consistently.

Other than that, she's lagging behind her siblings. Though she is the biggest and hungriest, she has pretty much refused to eat more than 5 bites that aren't hand fed or administered by bottle.

Chandra did eventually learn how to suckle instead of just slowly lapping at the nipple.

Presented in a spoon... Chandra makes a passing attempt to eat. In a plate/dish... she just runs away, screaming that I'm starving her. If I relent and load up food in my fingers, she'll slurp it down. So messy. So worth it.

Chandra gave me quite the scare. We went to my parent's house for a small birthday celebration. Chandra took a few bites of her food and choked. Her high pitched cries changed to a strangled gurgle, but I was happy whenever she cried because I knew she was still breathing. I tried sucking it out and doing kitty heimlich (while on phone with a vet tech). The vet tech, another foster, came over and was able to get the food dislodged. WHEW.

Chandra waits for help with grandma. She peed while she waited, lol.

Update 4/5/2020

Chandra is a spirited little girl! I'm so glad she finally learned how to eat on her own, as now the whole group is now weaning.

She's interested in both of the puppies. If they're wandering around the kitten pen, she'll do everything she can to get their attention and tries to play with them through the grates.

Luka seems happy with the attention!

Update 4/9/20

Chandra is still bigger, and I know why. She pushes her siblings out of the way during food times! I've started feeding them 1 at a time or in pairs so that I can manage them more carefully.

Chandra is almost always on the very top of every kitten pile.

Doesn't seem to matter how often we clean her face, Chandra's nose and cheeks seem permanently stained. I'm not sure she'll ever learn to eat in her food, instead of swimming through her food. But I love her face, dirty nose and all.

Chandra CRAVES and DEMANDS human interaction. She is the most mobile of the litter- she's been climbing onto the bed or can climb into my lap if I'm sitting in a computer chair. She loves to sit on shoulders or on top of your head. She also loves to bury herself in corners, under blankets, or other warm cozy nooks.

She wants to be on people, touch people, and love people. But if she can't have people, she'll accept attention from any kind soul.

Or prissy diva souls in a remarkably good mood....

I could rename Chandra as ZOOMBOMBER. She is such an insistent cuddlebug. She doesn't mind cuddling with her siblings until she hears me on a conference call. Chandra pops up and comes climbing into my lap, often at the top of her lungs.

Update 5/9/20

Chandra is one of the funniest kittens I've fostered. She climbs over her sisters to get to food, eats more than the other two combined, but is the lightest, leanest of the bunch. She is almost all legs, which she uses to climb... a lot. She wants to be with her humans... particulary if there is food involved. I was attempting to cook at this time...

She is 100% spaz when she's awake, but 200% love during cuddle time. Her sisters are getting adopted today, but Chandra is sticking around another week. She'll get fixed, then be ready next weekend!

Update 5/23/2020

Chandra got adopted last week, and I haven't heard from her new family... but I still wanted to share some precious photos from their visit with my parents on Mother's Day. After saying hello to my mom, she disregarded social protocol and curled up with my dad.... who likes to pretend he "doesn't like those damn cats". Are you fooled?
