Although Alcatraz followed twin brother Azkaban's lead to consider humans as friends instead of foes- he's taken that appreciation to a whole new level. Alcatraz loves to trap us by climbing into our laps and settling down.

See him in here? How many kittens do you see?

4? And no signs of Alcatraz? That's absolutely right- because when I walked into the room to find the 5 of them curled up in the unicorn bed, I got my camera out for a photo shoot. But Alcatraz thwarted my attempts to get pictures of him yet again by crawling out of the Alcatraz shaped hole between Shawshank and Azkaban to cry and crawl up my shirt onto my shoulder where he purred incessantly.

Update 11/8/20

Alkatraz continues to be tricky to photograph, because every time you point a camera in his direction, he meows and moves past you to climb on you. But he's also not a kitten that settles nicely, plopping in your lap so you can grab your camera and get those cuddle pictures. Alcatraz complains if you are not physically holding him with both hands. Sometimes he complains still, asking for even more pets while you're holding him and petting only him. I've probably noticed I'm not a great photographer anyway- but taking photos of a kitten while holding the kitten and scratching his kitten head... this is not a skill set I own. He also likes to sometimes crawl up and curl up in the back of my neck, under my hair.

While awful at posing for pictures, he is a perfect purr machine. I treasure my time with this rascal- and you can just imagine his cute face in more pictures-because I'm too busy giving him love!!

Update 11/29/20

Alcatraz and Azkaban are twin boys, and they're so similar in personality too! Azkaban is just *slightly* more bold and curious while Alcatraz is just *slightly* more cuddly. But of the group, as a pair, they're the boldest, most curious kittens.

Because he's so affectionate, when we were heading to visit my parents and their new kitten, my former foster Beignet (check out his blog if you want to meet the most spoiled kitten!), we decided to take Alcatraz on a play date.

Alcatraz was too interested in exploring this new area to eat. Beignet was still with me in foster care when the jailbirds arrived at my home and they had played together before, but Beignet wasn't sure about having a kitten in HIS home.

They were wary at first. But Beignet remembered how to play and tried to engage with Alcatraz, who was still in explorer mode.

Beignet was sad when Alcatraz had to leave. After we left, my mom said he went to all the areas they played together, looking for his friend. Beignet came to our house on Thanksgiving and he got to visit with all his old friends. Alcatraz and his siblings, already familiar with our home, were more playful until they hit food coma status, and they all enjoyed Beignet's visit.

Alcatraz was more sleepy for his photoshoot but we got his attention with a feather wand.

His prisoner ID was the trickiest... I ended up re-watching The Rock and exploring the internet for a reference I could use... it took HOURS. I also couldn't think of a way to describe how he will hold your lap hostage... because I just didn't want to use the word "lap"... the more I said it, the weirder it sounded.

The kennel set-up person had something come up, so I got to Petsmart early for set-up. Because there were so few litters coming this weekend, it was pretty fast so I got some extra time to play with them in the adoption room before I needed to start the adoption appointment sign-ups. While we were playing and cuddling, Alcatraz decided to climb up and stand on my head/shoulder. I'll miss his silliness!

Alcatraz was the first of his litter to find a home on adoption day. He went with a kitten from another litter named Maple. They were tense, but not aggressive when introduced, but we spent some time discussing how to introduce them successfully. Hoping to get an update from them soon!
