The only thing that gave me the strength to leave these floofs and go to work was knowing it was my last day before my summer vacation. I noticed that every time I opened the cage, spot on his nose was the first one to pop out. He and fluffy nugget were the boldest, trying to explore everywhere and even approaching the kitten viewing window (my household pets crowding around the sliding glass door separating the dungeon from the rest of the house, with much caterwauling and barking). The two brown nosers liked to find a warm human and snuggle in and watch the commotion. Mr. goopy eyes alternated between the two groups.
That evening, it was time to clean off the general grime (their mother had an open, oozing wound) and remove the clinging poopies on their butts and feet.
Fluffer butt and spot nose were very vocal in their displeasure in that wet stuff. Fluff also did NOT like being wrapped up and dried. Brown noses were pretty passive, and the boy almost fell asleep when being dried. But the last kitten, goopy eyes tolerated the bath without complaint and seemed to just love being dried. By the time I finished him, the husband had drifted off to bed so it was just the two of us. I made him a purrito and held him while he stopped shivering and started reading the kitten foster book they provided me the night before. He snoozed until I discovered they needed to be weighed daily. A quick late night weigh-in before bed time!
